March 13, 2025- Detectives assigned to the Westmoreland Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) arrested and charged a man with Shooting with Intent and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony following an incident on Hudson Street, Savanna-la-Mar in the parish on Saturday, February 15.

Charged is 48-year-old Marlon Ranger otherwise called ‘Rat’ of New Market Oval in the parish.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are at about 11:00 p.m., the complainant was walking along the roadway when he saw Ranger and a man removing lumber from an area. He called out to them to refrain from removing them, in response Ranger pulled a firearm from his waistband and fired several shots in the complainant’s direction who managed to escape unharmed.

On Monday, March 3, around 5:00 a.m., Ranger was arrested by the police at his home during a joint police and military operation and taken into custody. On Wednesday, March 12 at about 4:18 p.m. he was positively identified on an identification parade after which he was formerly charged for the offences. His accomplice was accosted and charged on Saturday, February 22.

His court date is being finalised.
