A second Westmoreland man has been charged in relation to the murder of 19-year-old Devonte Brown, otherwise called ‘Silly’, and the injury of three others in Crowder district, Grange Hill in Westmoreland on Sunday, February 04.
Charged with murder, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony and three counts of Wounding with Intent is 25-year-old painter, Romaine Murray, otherwise called ‘Bartez’ of Top Lincoln district, also in Grange Hill.
His co-accused, 19-year-old Lashawn Warren, otherwise called ‘Do-Do Man’ of Ghetto Geneva, also in Westmoreland, had similar charges laid against him on Sunday, March 17.
Reports from the police are that about 5:00 p.m., Brown was standing along the Crowder main road while the other victims were standing in a yard when a grey Nissan Latio motorcar drove up and stopped. It is alleged that Warren, armed with a handgun, and Murray, who was armed with a rifle, alighted from the vehicle and opened gunfire at them before escaping in the waiting vehicle. When the shooting subsided, all four people were seen with gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital, where Brown succumbed to his injuries, and the others were admitted.
