SECURITY GUARD CHARGED WITH BREACHES UNDER THE FIREARMS ACT
A team of officers assigned to the St. Andrew Central Police Division charged 22-year-old Keshaun Dubidad, a security guard of Bedward Gardens, August Town, Kingston 7, with several offences in relation to a shooting incident with lawmen in Bedward Gardens, August Town, in the parish on Saturday, March 22.
Reports are that at about 10:00 p.m., Dubidad was in the company of three other men who were all armed with guns. The police were in the area and went to the premises, where the men were. On seeing the police team, Dubidad and his accomplices opened fire at them. The police returned fire, hitting one of the gunmen; Dubidad ran into a house while the two other gunmen escaped.
Dubidad was subsequently caught, and the injured man was accosted, where one Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9 with a magazine containing three 9mm rounds was seen in his possession. Dubidad was seen with a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds of ammunition in his possession. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead— he is currently unidentified.
Following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney, Dubidad was charged.
His court date has not been finalised, and his accomplices are currently being sought by the police.
