
SECURITY GUARD FACING GUN RELATED CHARGES FOLLOWING ASSAULT
The Manchester Police arrested and charged a man with Assault at Common Law, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony following an incident at New Green Road, Mandeville, in the parish on Thursday, December 18.
Charged is 43-year-old Leslie Edwards, a security guard of Byndloss district, Linstead, St. Catherine.
Reports from the Mandeville Police are that at about 7:30 p.m., Edwards and a man had an argument during which he reportedly pulled his licensed firearm and pointed it at the floor while standing 2-3 feet from the man. He then uttered threats to the man, causing him to feel fearful for his life. A report was subsequently made to the police, and an investigation was launched.
Edwards was later apprehended and taken into custody. He was formally charged on Friday, December 19, after a question-and-answer session and a recorded statement that implicated him.
His court date is being finalised.
