
SECURITY OFFICER CHARGED WITH WOUNDING WITH INTENT
A security officer has been charged after allegedly shooting and injuring a relative during a domestic dispute at his home on Lyndhurst Road, Kingston 5, on Sunday, March 08.
Charged is 46-year-old Evan Bloomfield, of Lyndhurst Road, Kingston 5. He has been charged with Wounding with Intent, Breach of the Terms and Conditions of a Firearm Licence Certificate contrary to Section 78 of the Firearms Act, and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place.
Reports from the Denham Town Police are that at about 5:30 p.m., a dispute developed between Bloomfield and two relatives. The dispute reportedly escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bloomfield allegedly drew his licensed .38 service revolver and discharged a round, hitting one of the relatives in the lower left hand. It is further reported that the second relative attempted to restrain Bloomfield, and a struggle ensued during which another round was discharged.
Bloomfield was taken into custody on Friday, March 13, following investigations into the incident. He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer interview. His court date is being finalised.
