SEVERAL FIREARMS AND ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION SEIZED IN ST. ANDREW CENTRAL POLICING DIVISION
The St. Andrew Central Police have reaped significant success within the last few days with the seizure of five firearms and several rounds of ammunition throughout the division between Tuesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 15.
On Tuesday, March 13, two of five firearms were seized. A Sturm Ruger 9mm pistol with an affixed magazine containing thirteen 9mm cartridges was seized at about 10:10 a.m., along Tarrant Drive, Kingston 10. Twenty-three-year-old Fabian Thomas, otherwise called ‘Messi’, was accosted after he was observed acting in a manner that aroused the lawmen’s suspicion. He was searched, and the firearm was found in a bag he had in his possession. Thomas was taken into custody, where he was subsequently charged.
Further investigation brought the lawmen to a section of Molynes Road where a Ruger Mayodan high-powered rifle was seized later that same day.
The continued quest to rid the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition led police back to Tarrant Drive, where a silver Taurus PT 9mm pistol was also seized on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, May 14, sleuths traversing Providence Pen in the Kingston 5 area observed a man running with a rifle in his hand. They managed to intercept him, and a Core 15 GTO rifle affixed with a magazine containing ten 5.56 rounds was seized.
The St. Andrew Central Operational Support Team (OST) also seized a Glock 43 pistol affixed with a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds in the ceiling of a house along Roxborough Avenue in Kingston on the same day.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is committed to removing illegal guns and ammunition from the nation’s streets. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stop at 311, 311, the 119 Police Emergency number or the nearest police station.
