ST. ANN MECHANIC FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES
Forty-year-old Jean Bourgeois, a mechanic and auto body repairman of Greenwich Estate, Drax Hall, St. Ann, has been charged with Fraudulent Conversion and Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, following an investigation into a missing vehicle entrusted in his care.
Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that between November 01, 2021, and August 20, 2025, the complainant delivered a white 2021 Toyota Hilux, valued at approximately JMD $9.5 million, to Bourgeois for repairs. The estimated cost of repairs was $700,000 JMD. The complainant paid an instalment of $200,000 JMD, with the understanding that the balance would be paid on completion of the job.
The complainant left the island shortly after, and on his return on August 20th, the complainant visited Bourgeois’ garage to collect the vehicle and settle the outstanding balance. He was informed by Bourgeois that the vehicle had already been collected by an individual who claimed he was sent by the complainant.
A report was made to the police, and Bourgeois was identified and charged.
His court date is being finalised.
