St Ann Woman Charged with Embezzlement

Fifty-two-year-old Florient Casserly a customer service representative of Lydford Housing Scheme, Golden Grove, St. Ann was charged with embezzlement in relation to an incident in Claremont, St Ann on Monday, January 01.

According to reports from the St. Ann Police Casserly was a cashier at an establishment in the area. Her task was collecting bill payments from customers, processing the transactions, and issuing receipts. She allegedly waited until the customers left, then used her supervisor’s login to void the same customer’s transactions and keep the monies for herself.

The complainant, acting on information from concerned customers, conducted an investigation and discovered that she had embezzled JMD 3,380,000 over some time.

A report was made after she failed to hand over the money and was taken into custody. Casserly was charged after a question-and-answer session with her attorney.
