Detectives attached to the Stolen Motor Vehicle Unit of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) conducted a sting operation along Goffe Avenue, St. Jago Heights, St. Catherine, which led to a man being charged with Unlawful Possession of Property on Thursday, March 13.

He is a 44-year-old Lenworth Sutherland, an electrician of Belmore Avenue, Cedar Grove, Portmore in St Catherine.

Reports from the police are that at about 4:00 p.m., officers acting on information conducted an operation in search of Sutherland, who had been illegally advertising motor vehicle licence decal stickers for sale on a social media platform. During the intelligence-led operation a motor vehicle was found in Sutherland’s possession bearing a fraudulent license disc, with no valid insurance and no valid Certificate of Fitness.

He appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, March 14, and was granted bail.

Citizens are reminded that the Inland Revenue Department is the only authorized body to issue official motor vehicle licence decal stickers. Anyone seeking to acquire or replace a decal sticker should do so through the legitimate channels to avoid fraudulent activities.
