St. Catherine Man Charged with Breaches of the Firearm Act

Thirty-one-year-old Akeem Cox of Greater Portmore, St. Catherine was charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition following a firearm seizure on the Michael Manley Highway, Kingston 16 on Tuesday, October 8.

Reports from the Elletson Road Police are that about 11: 30 a.m., Cox who was driving a Toyota Axio along the highway was signalled to stop and complied. A search of the vehicle was conducted during which, a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine and three 9mm rounds of ammunition were found in the center console of the vehicle. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being arranged.
