ST. CATHERINE NORTH POLICE SEIZED FOUR FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION DURING OPERATION
The St. Catherine North seized four pistols and three 9mm rounds of ammunition and arrested one man in relation to this seizure during a joint police/military operation in Old Road, Thompson Pen, in the parish on Sunday, April 6.
This seizure comes as a result of a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, April 5, in which three persons were shot and injured in the area by gunmen.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that at about 10:30 p.m., three persons, including two women, were at a shop when they were pounced on by gunmen travelling on foot who opened fire, hitting them. The police were alerted, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment. The man is said to be in critical condition. As a result of this incident, the team commenced its operation in the area. At about 12:30 p.m., a house that was occupied by a man was searched, and the pistols, along with three 9mm rounds of ammunition, were found in his possession.
He was subsequently taken into custody; however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
