CATHERINE WOMAN CHARGED FOLLOWING RENTAL SCAM
Thirty-three-year-old Janice Linton of Kriterion Way, Waterford, St. Catherine, has been charged with Obtaining Money by Means of False Pretense following an incident at a bank in Spanish Town, in the parish, between Thursday, December 04, and Monday, December 08.
Reports from the Portmore Police are that between the mentioned period, Linton advertised a property for rental using an online platform. She later received $75,000 JMD from a woman as a down payment for the unit. It was further reported that Linton gave the woman a key for the house; however, the property could not be located.
A report was made to the police, and following an investigation, Linton was taken into custody during an operation on Wednesday, December 24. She was charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of her attorney.
Her court date is being finalised.
