ST. JAMES MAN CHARGED UNDER THE FIREARM ACT
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of
Ammunition charges have been laid against 26-year-old tiler Akeem Brown, otherwise known as
‘Pal’ of Walter drive, Hendon Norwood, in the parish following a seizure along Irie Drive, also in
Hendon Norwood, on Sunday, July 30.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that at about 12:40 a.m., lawmen on patrol in the area
saw Brown walking towards them. On seeing the police, he took an object from his waistband and
threw it to the ground. The team went to investigate; retrieved and seized a Glock 45 9mm pistol
with an affixed magazine containing fourteen 9mm rounds.
Brown was taken into custody and was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
