St. James Man Charged with Murder

Detectives assigned to the St. James Police Division have charged 30-year-old Joseph McKenzie otherwise called ‘Geo’, of Second Avenue, Flankers, St. James with the murder of a man in New Road, Flankers in the parish on Saturday, April 27.

Dead is 28-year-old Randy McNeil, a shop operator of Providence Heights, Flankers, St. James.

Along with the murder of McNeil— McKenzie was also charged with using a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Reports are that about 11:15 a.m., McNeil was walking the roadway, when he was pounced upon by McKenzie— who was armed with gun, he then shot McNeil several times. The police were alerted, and McNeil was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation into the incident, McKenzie was arrested at about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday August 25, at Harvey Beach, St. James. He was subsequently charged after he underwent a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date has not been finalised.
