ST JAMES MAN FACES FIREARM CHARGES

Twenty-eight-year-old Javoy Fletcher of Plantation Heights, Cambridge, St. James, has been charged with Shooting with Intent and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony following an incident in Plantation Heights Square in the parish on Thursday, June 12.

Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that at about 4:30 p.m., a man was walking along the roadway when Javoy and his accomplice approached on a motorcycle and attacked the man. A tussle ensued, after which Javoy pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened gunfire at the man before escaping the area on the waiting motorcycle.

The man, in fear for his life, ran to escape further injuries and later reported the incident to the police. An investigation was launched into the matter, and the men were subsequently arrested on Thursday June 26. Javoy Fletcher was charged after a question-and-answer session whilst his accomplice awaits an identification parade.

Javoy Fletcher’s court date is being finalised.
