March 27, 2025- Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act, and The Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) – formally the Lottery Scam Act following an operation in Tremolesworth and Dean Pen districts, both in Highgate, St. Mary on Thursday, March 27.

They are 26-year-old Delroy Simmonds, and 22-year-old Chadrick Higgins of Tremolesworth and Dean Pen districts respectively. Simmonds was charged with possession of prohibited weapon and Higgings was charged with breaches with possession of identity information.

Reports are that between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., in the first incident, lawmen were in Tremolesworth district, when premises that was occupied by Simmonds was searched. During the search, two imitation firearms resembling a pistol and a revolver, along with accessories such as a magazine, plastic pellets, and spent casings were found in possession. In the second incident, lawmen were in Dean Pen, where another premises was searched that was occupied by Higgings.

During the search, one laptop, and one cellular phone containing multiple Microsoft Excel documents with contact information for individuals in the United States, were suspected to be linked to lottery scamming activities.

Additionally, cash totalling JMD724,445, USD500, and CAND 20 were found in his possession. Following these arrests, both men were charged with their respective offences. However, their court dates are not finalised.
