Thirty-five-year-old Everton Miller, a farmer of Thompson Town, Clarendon and Greenvale Manchester has been charged with several offences following a shooting incident in Negril, Westmoreland on Friday, July 26.
Miller was charged with:
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon (8 Counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition
- Shooting with Intent (5 Counts)
- Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony
- Stockpiling Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)
- Dealing in Prohibited Weapon (2 Counts)
- Trafficking Prohibited Weapon (8 Counts)
- Being a part of a Criminal Organization
Reports indicate that between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., a police team attempted to intercept three vehicles, one of which fled toward the pier. The vehicle subsequently drove into the sea, and in the aftermath of a confrontation between the armed men and the police team, Miller, one of the suspected gunmen, was rescued from the water by the police. He was hospitalized under police guard, while four other suspects were rescued by the Marine Police but were pronounced dead at the hospital.
