THE PRIME MINISTER OF JAMAICA AWARDS TWO YOUNG POLICE FOR NATION BUILDING

Corporal Moesha Allen and Constable Lessaun Blake of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) were honoured by the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr the Most Honourable Andrew Holness for Nation Building, at the annual Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards for excellence in Kingston, on Saturday, May 31. This prestigious award acknowledges the significant contributions of not just these two police, but several other youth advocates within Jamaica.

Corporal Moesha Allen, 27, was nominated in the category of nation building, for which she topped the category. She was recognised for her over 10 years of voluntary service, focusing on empowering young Jamaicans. She is the founder of several initiatives, two notable ones being the Moesha’s Empowerment and Guidance Programme (MEGP) and the Helping Youth Pursue Excellence (HYPE) mentorship programme. These initiatives demonstrate her commitment to youth development. Corporal Allen is a true inspiration and community builder, not only caring for youths but also running a mentorship programme aimed at supporting parents and guardians in creating a healthier family environment. With all these accolades, it is no wonder she was selected as one of the LASCO Saluting Our Heroes Top Cop in 2024.

Meanwhile, Constable Lessaun Blake, 22, is the co-founder of the UMBRE movement (Understanding Male Biases and Redefining Expectations), showcasing his dedication to social causes. He also held key roles in various organisations, including Generation 2000 Manchester, Aspirar Jamaica, and the Manchester Youth Parish Council. His involvement in these initiatives highlights his proactive approach to community development.

Both Corporal Allen and Constable Blake volunteer at different children’s homes across Jamaica, exemplifying their shared commitment to giving back to the community. As members of a transformational JCF, these two exemplary members have done their families, their country and, of course, the JCF proud. The recognition of Corporal Moesha Allen and Constable Lessaun Blake through the Prime Minister’s National Youth Award for Nation Building underscores their impactful work in Jamaican society. Their achievement will not only inspire young people, but also their colleagues as they continue to contribute to fostering safer communities and a magnificent Jamaica.
