THREE MEN CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT

Three men have been charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Meyler’s Avenue, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland, on Wednesday, July 31.

Charged are:

  • 33-year-old Collin Annakie, otherwise called ‘Blackboy’ of Dalling Street in Westmoreland and Nanny Path, Kingston 11.
  • 26-year-old livestock farmer and promoter, Jerome Bradford of Meyler’s Avenue, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
  • 27-year-old farmer Jurmmy Wilson, also of Meyler’s Avenue, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that about 9:28 p.m., a team of lawmen on patrol in the area observed a group of men standing in a yard. Suspicious that the men were concealing weapons, the police team entered the premises, and a search was conducted. During the search, a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds was found. The gun was retrieved, and the men were taken into custody. The three were jointly charged with Possession of Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys.

Their court date is being finalised.
