Sleuths assigned to the Portland Policing Division have charged three persons with Murder following the death of 28-year-old Michael Scoughbourgh, a construction worker of Diamond Ridge, Buff Bay, Portland, on Nelson Street, Buff Bay, in the parish on Friday, January 31.

Charged are 44-year-old Mawee Rennis, otherwise called ‘Weewong,’ a farmer; 23-year-old Ashley Brown, a student; and 21-year-old Jamai Moore, a farmer, all of West Norman, Buff Bay, Portland.

Reports from the police are that at about 1:00 p.m., Scoughbourgh and a man got into an altercation. Scoughbourgh left and returned with a machete, which he used to inflict a wound on the man’s hand. The man was transported to the police station and reported the incident. While at the station making his report, his family members attacked Scoughborough. Rennis used a baseball bat while Brown and Moore used stones to inflict injuries all over his body. Scoughborough was assisted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police were alerted, and all three were accosted and taken into custody.

Their court date is being finalized.
