Detectives assigned to the Hanover Policing Division have charged 24-year-old Towayne Gunnings otherwise called ‘Tuffy’ of Grange and Rock Spring, Green Island Hanover in relation to two incidents in the parish.
Gunnings has been charged with the Murder of 21-year-old Cjay Hall of Green River, Salt Spring Hanover. He has also been charged with Shooting with Intent, Possession of Prohibited Weapon (2 counts) Using A Firearm to Commit a Felony (2 counts) and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition (2 counts).
Reports are that on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, about 12:30 p.m., police received information of explosions sounding like gunshots in the area and made checks. On arrival, the lifeless body of Gunnings was seen lying face down along the roadway with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Gunnings was taken to hospital where death was confirmed.
On Tuesday April 02, at about 12:40 p.m., a team of officers went to a section of Halfmoon Beach, in the parish and upon reaching an area of the property, a man was observed pulling a female unto a gold color motorcycle. This aroused the lawmen’s suspicion, who then approached the man and the woman. Upon seeing the police, Gunnings brandished a firearm and opened gunfire at them, who took evasive action and returned fire. Gunnings drove off and the police gave chase. Gunnings however, eluded the police.
On Monday, September 16 Gunnings was arrested, after he was taken in to the police by his attorney. He was subsequently charged and is currently awaiting a court date.
