A St. James vendor has been charged in connection with the seizure of a handgun and more than a dozen rounds of ammunition in Charles Gordon Market, Montego Bay in the parish on Monday, November 04.
He is 30-year-old Timoy Bingham, otherwise called ‘Lippo’ and ‘Onion Man’. Bingham, who is from Over River in the parish, has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that at about 9:00 p.m., lawmen were on patrol in the market when Bingham was seen with a bag around his neck. Upon seeing the police, he reportedly started acting in a manner that aroused the suspicion of the police team. The team accosted Bingham and searched him; one Glock 22 pistol fitted with a magazine containing fifteen .40 rounds of ammunition was seized. He was taken into custody and was subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
