A team of officers assigned to the St. Catherine North Proactive Investigation Unit (P.I.U.) has captured 47-year-old Gregory Ferguson, otherwise called ‘Ruff,’ of Duncan’s Pen Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, who was wanted for a Murder he committed in 2021. Ferguson was captured on Cherry Lane in Kitson Town in the parish on Sunday, February 16.

He was wanted for the murder of 22-year-old Cody McLaughlin of Duncan’s Pen Road, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Sunday, March 7.

Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that at about 9:30 a.m., Ferguson and McLaughlin had an argument at a football field in his community. It is alleged that sometime after, Ferguson and other men reportedly went to McLaughlin’s house, where the argument escalated, and McLaughlin was subsequently shot several times. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following a report into the matter, Ferguson was listed as wanted on the JCF’s Wanted Wednesday campaign. At about 12:40 p.m., the P.I.U. team was on an operation in search of wanted men when they saw Ferguson driving a Nissan Tiida motor car along the roadway. He was signaled to stop, and he complied.

He was accosted and searched, and the vehicle was also searched. Upon closer examination, it was revealed that Ferguson was wanted. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six 9mm rounds of ammunition was found in Ferguson’s possession.

He was subsequently taken into custody.
