The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has achieved a breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime, capturing Nicholas Muthra of Benta District, Withorn in Westmoreland, during an intensive security operation in Hartford, Westmoreland on Wednesday, December 11. Muthra was linked to the November 10, 2024 murder of Iwayne Bennett, otherwise called ‘Mad Dog’ in Bastard Cedar Walk in the parish on Sunday, November 10.

This success is part of Operation Reassurance, a large-scale initiative to restore order and bolster public confidence in the Westmoreland Division. Led by Superintendent Othneil Dobson, the operation has mobilized a robust team of personnel from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), the Area One Fugitive Apprehension Team, Specialized Operations, the Lottery Scamming Task Force, Traffic and Highway Patrol and the Divisional Quick Response Unit. Other partner agencies include the Transport Authority and the Jamaica Public Service.

Muthra’s capture marks a significant achievement for the operation, which continues to focus on maintaining a strong law enforcement presence, addressing security concerns, and engaging with the local community. As Operation Reassurance progresses, the JCF remains resolute in its mission to secure the well-being of all citizens and uphold the rule of law.
