Twenty-three-year-old Kyree Lynch, of Crowder district, Grange Hill, Westmoreland was charged following the murder of 20-year-old Jowayne Murray otherwise called ‘Joey’, in Geneva district in the parish on Wednesday, June 26.
Lynch has been charged with Murder, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Reports from the Savanna-la-mar Police are that at about 5:30 p.m., Murray was in the company of family members at a shop when a Toyota Axio motor car drove up. Lynch then alighted from the motor vehicle and approached Murray brandishing a firearm which he used to open gunfire at Murray, who ran from the shop and was chased by Lynch and shot. The police were summoned and, on their arrival, Murray was seen in a yard lying on his back with multiple gunshots wounds to his upper body. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
On Saturday, September 7 Lynch was apprehended during a targeted raid at Ramble District, Hanover; and was subsequently charged based on a witness statement.
His court date is being finalized.
