‘YANKIE’ FACING GUN-RELATED CHARGES
Detectives attached to the St. Andrew South Policing Division have charged 31-year-old Nicola Reid, otherwise called ‘Yankie’ of Barton Road, Westchester, Portmore, St Catherine, with the following offences: Murder, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Possession of Prohibited Ammunition, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony following an incident on Modyford Road, Kingston 11, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
Dead is 56-year-old Korian Rockburn, tyre repairman of Modyford Road, Kingston 11, and Bamboo Spring, Trelawney.
Reports from Hunts Bay Criminal Investigations Branch are that at about 6:10 p.m., Reid, who was armed with a firearm, drove up in a motor vehicle, alighted from the vehicle and opened gunfire at Rockburn, hitting him multiple times in the upper body. He made his escape in the motor vehicle. The police was alerted, and he was assisted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The accused was subsequently arrested during police operations and was later charged. His court date is being finalised.
