Fisherman Held In Connection With Seizure of M16 Rifle

 A Trelawny fisherman has been charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of an M16 rifle and several rounds of ammunition during an operation in Scarlett Hall district in the parish on Thursday, July 01.

He is 39-year-old Courey Brown of Scarlett Hall in the parish. He was charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. 

Reports are that about 5:30 a.m., officers searched a premises occupied by Brown. One unassembled M16 Colt rifle and two magazines containing thirty-one 5.56 cartridges were found under a bed. Additionally, two bottles, one containing ten .40 rounds of ammunition and the other containing twelve .44 rounds of ammunition, were found at the back of the premises.

Brown’s court date is being finalized.

Curfew Imposed in Havana Heights, Clarendon

A curfew that was imposed in sections of Havana Heights in Clarendon at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 03 remains in effect until 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 05.

The boundaries of the curfew are as follows:

North: Along a dirt track from the unfinished concrete dwelling at the western boundary to the sign which marks “Welcome to Woodside Community” vicinity Havana Heights main road;

East: Along the Havana Heights main road from the sign which marks “Welcome to Woodside Community” to the Jacob Hut Community vicinity the train line at the southern boundary;

South: Along an imaginary line approximately 430 metres from the Jacob Hut Community vicinity the train line to the yellow concrete dwelling at the western boundary;

West: Along an imaginary line approximately 270 metres running parallel of the gully bank to the unfinished concrete dwelling at the northern boundary.

During the hours of the curfew, all persons within the boundaries of the curfew are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorized in writing by the ground commander.
