Twenty-four-year-old Mourice Rose otherwise called ‘Town Man’, a delivery man of McKenzie Drive, Tivoli Gardens in Kingston 14 and McHill district, Clarks Town, Trelawny was slapped with several charges following an incident in Clarks Town, Trelawny on Sunday, January 14.
Rose was charged with;
- Murder
- Attempted Arson
- Shooting with Intent (5 Counts)
- Unauthorised Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition
Facts are about 11:20 p.m., 28-year-old Cecelia Smith, otherwise called ‘Chubby’, a shopkeeper of Cockburn Pen in the parish was at home when she was pounced upon by gunmen, who kicked off her front door and open gunfire hitting her to the upper body. The gunmen then went to the back of the house and attempted to light the house on fire. The police were alerted and, on their arrival, Smith was seen with a gunshot wound. She was transported to hospital where she was admitted in serious condition.
Smith succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, January 16.
The accused turned himself in to the police on Friday, February 09. On Monday, February 19, he was positively pointed out on an identification parade.
His court date is being finalized.
