JCF TRANSFORMATION EXPO 2.0 SHOWCASING THE JCF AS A CAREER OF PURPOSE AND POSSIBILITY
The Jamaica Constabulary Force prepares to unveil Transformation Expo 2.0, a central ambition of this year’s staging is to reposition the JCF as a service to be admired and a career destination to be pursued.
Scheduled for June 19–22 in Kingston and Montego Bay, the Expo builds upon 2023’s success. One of the clear imperatives of the expo is to open wide the doors of opportunity within the Force and to allow the public, particularly young Jamaicans, to see law enforcement not merely as enforcement but as empowerment!
At the heart of this aspect is Deputy Commissioner of Police Andrew Lewis, whose message for the Expo resonates with clarity and purpose. “This is my personal invitation to you,” Lewis states, “to enter the world of the JCF at the Transformations, People, Quality and Technology Expo 2.0!”
Lewis, who leads the Administration and Support Services Portfolio, is keen to point out that the Expo is a chance to understand the JCF as a dynamic, forward-moving organisation, one that welcomes new talent from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. “The JCF is a great place to kickstart your career; take it from me,” he says, reflecting on his more than 25 years of service. “Come to the Expo to learn more about the requirements for a rewarding career in Jamaican law enforcement.”
Indeed, the JCF has long been a workplace that rewards ambition and nurtures talent, but the nature of this opportunity is evolving. Today’s Force are increasingly powered by individuals with qualifications in forensic science, behavioural analysis, cybercrime, accounting, education, social work, and digital technology. From drone pilots to data analysts and from legal scholars to communication strategists, the JCF is broadening its recruitment appeal to meet the complex realities of 21st-century policing.
A key feature of the Expo will be the presence of the National Police College of Jamaica, an institution Lewis describes as “the entry point to the JCF”. Attendees will get an inside look at the college’s curriculum, field training, and leadership development framework, all designed to build not only skilled officers but visionary ones.
This year’s Expo, therefore, represents a turning point in how the public is invited to perceive and participate in the JCF. It is an invitation to those with passion, discipline, and intellectual agility to see themselves in the uniform, not as enforcers, but as nation builders.
To “enter the world of the JCF”, as DCP Lewis puts it, is to step into an organisation that is transforming itself to meet the moment; a force that is both fit for the future and actively shaping it, and for those seeking purpose, challenge, and contribution at the highest level of public service.
