Causing Death by Dangerous Driving is the charge that has been laid against a 25-year-old man who has been linked to the Friday, October 04 incident along St. John’s main road in St. James, which resulted in the death of Constable Linroy Codner.
He is Dillon Reid, otherwise known as ‘CJ’ or ‘Bulby’ of the Blackshop district, also in St. James
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that at about 3:00 p.m., Constable Codner was on duty when he was mowed down by Reid, who was driving a white Toyota Probox in the aforementioned community. Reid fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle in his community after the incident. Constable Codner was assisted to hospital, where he received treatment for multiple brain injuries; he succumbed on Sunday, October 20.
Reid turned himself in to the police a day after the incident with his attorney and was interviewed. A file was thereafter submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for a ruling, and on Friday, February 21, it was recommended that he be charged.
He was formally charged on Friday, February 28th, after he again surrendered to custody with his attorney.
Reid is scheduled to appear in the St. James Parish court on Wednesday, March 12.
