Hudson Powers Through Technical Trouble with 10.80-Second Run

HUDSON POWERS THROUGH TECHNICAL TROUBLE WITH 10.80-SECOND RUN

Despite a technical setback, Detective Sergeant Andrew Hudson completed a blistering 10.80-second run in his first race at the Drag Rivals event at Vernamfield, Clarendon, earlier today.

Hudson, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s One Force for Good Ambassador, entered today’s competition with momentum following a record-setting qualifying run on Friday, August 7, when he lowered his previous personal best of 10.7 seconds to an impressive 10.265 seconds in his 2001 Honda Integra.

However, during his 10 Class race today, a mechanical issue affected the vehicle’s performance when a hose connecting the turbocharger to the engine became disconnected.

According to the technical team lead, the boost hose connecting the engine to the intercooler had burst, resulting in a loss of power to the vehicle. Despite the setback, Hudson maintained his composure and completed the run in 10.80 seconds.

The technical team lead further noted that the vehicle was still able to complete the run despite the loss of power, adding that the outcome could have been different had the hose remained securely connected.

Hudson’s day on the track is not over. He is set to return shortly for a grudge race, which will determine his progression in the competition.

With more than 20 years of motorsport experience, the veteran racer remains focused on representing the JCF’s “Race at the Track, Not on the Roads” campaign, reinforcing the message that speed belongs in a controlled racing environment.

With another opportunity ahead, Hudson will return to the track determined to put the technical setback behind him and continue showcasing the skill, experience and passion that have defined his motorsport journey.
