CLARENDON MAN CHARGED FOR FIREARM-RELATED OFFENCES

Detectives in Clarendon have charged 44-year-old farmer, Jermaine Sancko of Middle Street in Gimme-mi-Bit, Clarendon, with Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Assault at Common Law and Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm following an incident in his community on Tuesday, March 24.

Reports are that at about 10:30 p.m., Sancko and a man were involved in a dispute that became physical. Sancko allegedly used an object to hit the man to the left side of his face. The man reportedly fell, and Sancko allegedly pointed a firearm at him and threatened him. The man managed to escape without further injuries and sought treatment at a medical facility.

After receiving treatment, the man reported the matter to the police, and an investigation was launched. On Sunday, March 29, Sancko was arrested in a targeted operation.

He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is being finalised.
