Firearm Handed Over to the Police in St. James

FIREARM HANDED OVER TO THE POLICE IN ST. JAMES

Detectives assigned to the St James Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have launched an investigation into the finding of a firearm that was handed over to a team of JDF members who were on duty at Seaview Drive, Norwood ZOSO checkpoint on Sunday, August 10.

Reports from the Norwood Police are that at about 6:20 a.m., members of the JDF were approached by an individual who reported that he found a firearm whilst walking along a dirt track on his way home. The police were summoned, and on their arrival the weapon was handed over to them. An inspection was carried out and found to be a Glock 26 pistol with a magazine affixed containing ten 9mm cartridges.

Investigations continue.
