FIREARM SEIZURE IN KINGSTON

Lawmen attached to the Kingston Central Policing Division seized one FMK 9C1 pistol with a magazine affixed containing twelve 9mm rounds of ammunition during an operation on Church and North Street, in the parish on Wednesday, August 20.

Reports from the lawmen are that at about 3:45 p.m., lawmen were patrolling the area when they saw a group of men acting in a manner which aroused their suspicion. The men were instructed to stop, when one of the men ran, resulting in a chase. The man attempted to pull a firearm from his waistband, and the police discharged a round, which hit him in the leg. He was apprehended, and the firearm was removed from his person.

He was transported to hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
