The St. James Police seized an illegal firearm along with ammunition and arrested and charged a man with breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act in Farm Hill, St. James on Wednesday, May 26. 

Charged is 19-year-old Keyano Dixon of Porto Bello district in the parish. 

Reports are that about 7:00 a.m., an intelligence-driven operation which involved several units within the St. James Division – including the Proactive Investigations Unit, St. James Foot Patrol and the St. James Divisional-Fugitive Apprehension Team – searched a house occupied by Dixon, where Lottery Scamming Paraphernalia were found. During the search of the yard, one homemade shotgun with four (4) 12-gauge cartridges was found buried at the fence line. 

Dixon was subsequently charged with the breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.

Investigations relating to the seizure of the firearm are ongoing.

The most recent seizure brings the tally of firearms seized in the parish to fifty-eight (58) and ammunition to approximately thirteen hundred (1300) since the start of the year. 

St. James continues their success rate in removing illegal firearms from the nation’s streets as they were recently highlighted as the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) leading Division in the seizure of firearms.
