HOSPITAL ATTENDANT CHARGED FOR USING BANK CARD
Forty-year-old hospital attendant, Kemar Smith, of Harris Street, May Pen, Clarendon, has been charged with Unauthourised Access to Computer Data and Simple Larceny after he allegedly used another person’s debit card to make several purchases between Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Reports from the May Pen Police are that at about 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, a man used his bank card to withdraw funds from an automated teller machine (ATM) in May Pen, Clarendon. The following morning, he discovered that his bank card was missing. He later received several notifications of unauthourised transactions carried out at various business establishments in the parish and online, amounting to $73,146.38 JMD.
The matter was reported to the police, who immediately launched an investigation.
Smith was subsequently identified and taken into custody. A caution statement was recorded, after which he was formally charged.
His court date is being finalised.
