International Fugitive Captured By St Mary Police
An international manhunt for a Dominican Republic man who was wanted for murder came to an end during an intelligence-led operation in St Mary on Tuesday, August 18.
He is 26-year-old Jhovanny De Jesus Metz Cruz, a Dominican Republic national who is being sought by authorities in his homeland in connection with the murder of a garbage truck driver in Santiago, Dominican Republic, on Friday, April 17. He was captured by lawmen assigned to the St Mary Policing Division on Tuesday, August 18.
Swift action was taken by a team of officers acting on information that led them to conduct a targeted operation in Annotto Bay, St Mary, where the suspect and another Dominican Republic national was being housed by a resident of the community.
All three men were taken into custody, and investigations are currently underway as Jamaican authorities continue to collaborate with their international law enforcement counterparts.
The operation forms part of the St. Mary Police Division’s continued intelligence-driven strategy to apprehend wanted persons and other criminal suspects, disrupt criminal activities and prevent havens for persons seeking to evade law enforcement, both internally and overseas.
