JCF RAMPS UP FIGHT AGAINST FINANCIAL CRIMES WITH INTENSIVE FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION TRAINING

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) continues to build its capacity to deal with complex financial crimes, Anti- Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism.

On Friday, October 16, twenty-nine members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) graduated from a comprehensive two-week Financial Investigation Course at the Caribbean Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Centre (REDTRAC) at the National Police College of Jamaica.

The intensive training course brought together law enforcement officers for intensive training on money laundering, illicit financial flows and asset recovery. The aim was to provide them with the sophisticated analytical and legal tools to go after the financial infrastructure of criminal networks.

The carefully crafted two-week syllabus included a range of specialist areas including Money Laundering Offences and Typologies, Financial Records, Analysis and Net Worth Exercises, Investigatory Powers and the Legal Frameworks.

The course took a collaborated multi-agency approach with presentations from the Financial Investigations Division (FID), the JCF’s Specialized Investigations Branch (SIB) and the Tax Administration Jamaica.

The graduation of the participating investigators marked their deployment as a newly upskilled cohort, who will complement the work being conducted by the Constabulary Financial Unit as they prepare to go out and lead the fight against financial crime across the island.
