A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges following an armed robbery at a nightclub in Ewarton, St. Catherine, on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Reports are that at about 11:45 p.m., the man entered the nightclub, held a patron at gunpoint and robbed the patron of JM $17,000. When the victim resisted, the gun-toting thief allegedly assaulted him, tearing his shirt and striking him with the firearm.

Swift action by the police led to the robber’s apprehension at the scene. A search of his person revealed a Beretta pistol along with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition. He was arrested and the firearm was seized.

Following further investigations, he was identified as Tee Jay Powell, of Waterloo district in Ewarton. He was charged with Robbery with Aggravation, Unlawful Wounding, Malicious Destruction of Property, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition, and Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony.

His court date is being finalized.
