POLICE COMMISSIONER COMMENDS OFFICERS FOR SURGE IN OPERATIONAL RESULTS

Police Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake has commended members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for what he described as a significant increase in operational activity, which he says is contributing to sustained reductions in violent crime.

In his latest weekly column, Dr Blake praised officers across the Force for their continued efforts in executing targeted operations aimed at keeping the country’s murder rate on a downward trajectory. “As I review the number of operations and the results of those operations, I am reminded of this significant effort that you have been making to keep the murder trajectory going in the right direction,” he said.

The Commissioner pointed to a series of high-impact policing measures carried out across the island. “You collectively executed over 9,000 National Coordinated Road Blocks, and issued more than quarter million traffic tickets,” Dr Blake noted.

He added that enforcement activities have also led to a substantial number of arrests. “More than 8,000 persons were arrested, where over 10% of them were for major crimes including murders and shootings,” he said.

Dr Blake said the figures reflect a coordinated and disciplined approach to policing, underscoring the role of sustained operational pressure in disrupting criminal activity.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force has in recent months intensified its focus on intelligence-led operations, increased road policing, and targeted interventions as part of its broader strategy to reduce major crimes and improve public safety.
