PORTLAND FARMER CHARGED WITH WOUNDING WITH INTENT
Twenty-nine-year-old Okieve Ellis, a farmer of Buff Bay, Portland, has been charged with Wounding with Intent following an incident on Nelson Street, Buff Bay, in the parish on Monday, July 14.
Reports from the Buff Bay Police are that at about 8:00 p.m., Ellis and another man were having a heated argument when Ellis used a machete to chop the man all over his body, causing wounds which bled. The injured man was assisted to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
A report was subsequently made to the police, and an investigation was launched. Ellis was later accosted and brought into custody, where he was charged on Wednesday, July 23, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
He is scheduled to appear before the Portland Parish Court on Wednesday, August 20.
