PRISONER CHARGED WITH INMATE’S MURDER
Twenty-three-year-old Nolando Atkinson, a construction worker of Boscobel View, St. Mary has been charged with the Murder of another prisoner following an incident at the Annotto Bay Police Station lock-up on Saturday, December 06.
Dead is 34-year-old Eraldo Francis, a contractor of Tremolsworth, Highgate of St. Mary.
Reports from the Port Maria Police are that shortly after midday, a disturbance occurred among inmates housed at the facility. Police intervened to restore order, after which Francis was found unresponsive with stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation was launched into the matter, and Atkinson was later implicated, based on statements collected. He was formally charged after a question-and-answer interview on Sunday, December 14.
His court date is being finalised.
