SECURITY GUARD CHARGED AFTER FAKE FIREARM ID, IMITATION GUN FOUND IN ST MARY
A 36-year-old security guard is facing charges of Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorised Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Forged Document and Uttering Forged Document following an incident in Highgate, St Mary on Saturday, September 5.
He is Nickson Hamilton of Frazerwood, Highgate, St Mary.
According to reports, at approximately 6:00 p.m., police were responding to a crowd that was obstructing the seizure of a robot taxi when Hamilton was observed with a bulge in his waistband. He was accosted and told the police that he was a licensed firearm holder, presenting a Firearm ID card. However, the card raised the police’s suspicion. Hamilton was subsequently disarmed and taken to the Highgate Police Station, where the weapon was examined and found to be an imitation handgun with a magazine containing nine 9mm hollow-point rounds. Further checks also revealed that the Firearm Licensing Authority ID card was fake.
Hamilton was subsequently charged and is scheduled to appear before the St. Mary Parish Court on Thursday, September 10.
