ST. CATHERINE WOMAN CHARGED WITH UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO COMPUTER DATA
Twenty-four-year-old Amelia Venson, of Caymanas Estate, Portmore, St. Catherine, has been charged with Unauthorized Access to Computer Data, Simple Larceny, and Conspiracy following a series of online transactions between Wednesday, March 12, and July 2025.
Reports from the Caymanas Police are that a relative sought assistance from Venson to withdraw and deposit money at the Automated Banking Machine (ABM). After receiving her help, he was later contacted by a representative from his bank, who informed him of unauthorised online purchases made using his card. The transactions were linked to an account bearing Venson’s name.
Further investigation by the complainant revealed that Venson conspired with two other individuals to purchase goods amounting to $474,000.00 JMD.
A report was made to the police, and Venson was arrested. She was subsequently charged after she gave a caution statement in the presence of her attorney.
Her court date is being finalised.
