US Woman Charged Under Firearms Act

A woman who was found with a handgun in her luggage after arriving in Jamaica on a flight from Dallas in the United States of America (USA) on Wednesday, June 30, is facing jail time after being charged with breaches of the Firearms Act by the St. James Police.

The woman, who has been identified as 25-year-old De-Arian Malone, a human resource journalist of Texas, USA, is charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

Malone reportedly arrived at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, about 3:30 p.m. During security checks, the police found a Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds of ammunition inside her luggage. She was arrested and following investigations, she was charged. Malone’s court date has not yet been finalised.
