Thirty-three-year-old Kevoy Anderson, an electrician of Top Melbourne Avenue, Montego Bay, St. James was slapped with several charges following an incident in Hopewell, Hanover in the parish on Tuesday, August 28.
Anderson was charged with Kidnapping, Extortion, Conspiracy to Kidnap, and Conspiracy to Defraud.
Reports from the Lucea Police are that about 7:30 a.m., the complainant was taken from her home at gun point and taken to Montego Bay where Anderson demanded JMD 1 million to release the woman. The money was paid over, and Anderson was arrested by a team of officers. He was charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
A court date for him is being finalized.
