
JCF ASSURES PUBLIC OF HEIGHTENED SECURITY ATTENTION IN HALF-WAY TREE
The High Command of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has taken note of reports concerning a possible conflict involving criminal elements operating in and around Half-Way Tree, St Andrew.
The JCF wishes to assure residents, members of the business community, transport operators, vendors and the wider public that the St Andrew Central Police are aware of the reported developments and have already taken decisive action to contain the situation. Several targeted operational and investigative measures have been implemented.
The St Andrew Central Police fully recognise that Half-Way Tree is a critical hub of Jamaica’s economic, social and political activity. The reported situation is therefore being treated with the seriousness, urgency and sustained operational attention it requires.
The police currently have the situation under control and have strengthened their presence and operational posture throughout the area. Members of the public can expect to see increased police activity as teams conduct targeted operations, maintain heightened surveillance and pursue intelligence-led interventions.
These measures will remain under continuous review, and the space will be closely monitored to guide any further operational action that may become necessary.
The JCF will not allow criminal elements to disturb the social order, intimidate members of the public or disrupt the lawful economic and social activities taking place in Half-Way Tree or any other part of Jamaica. Any attempt by individuals or groups to engage in extortion, violence or other criminal activity will be met with firm and sustained law-enforcement action.
The JCF encourages members of the public to continue conducting their lawful activities while remaining alert and cooperating with the police. Anyone with information concerning criminal activities in the Half-Way Tree area is urged to contact the St Andrew Central Police, Crime Stop at 311, the police emergency number at 119, or the nearest police station.
