
CATHERINE HIGGLER CHARGED WITH MURDER
Lawmen assigned to the St. Catherine North Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged 38-year-old Betty-Ann Jarrett, a higgler of Tawes Meadows, Spanish Town, St. Catherine, with Murder following the stabbing death of a man in their community on Saturday, May 16.
Dead is 36-year-old Orlando Goulbourne, a labourer of Tawes Meadows, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that, at about 4:00 a.m., Jarrett and Goulbourne were involved in a dispute which became physical. During the confrontation, Jarrett allegedly used a pair of scissors to inflict wounds to Goulbourne’s head before fleeing the scene.
The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, Goulbourne was assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.
On Sunday, May 17, Goulbourne succumbed to his injuries. His body was subsequently removed to the morgue, and an investigation was launched into the matter.
On Monday, May 18, Jarrett turned herself in to the police and was taken into custody after reportedly admitting to the crime.
On Thursday, August 27, Jarrett was charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of her attorney.
Her court date is being finalised.
