MAN FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING THEFT AT A PARKING LOT IN KINGSTON

Sleuths assigned to the St. Andrew Central Policing Division have arrested and charged a man with Simple Larceny and Malicious Injury to Property following a theft at a parking lot in the parish between Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19.

The accused has been identified as 28-year-old Elzinga Netfa, who is of no fixed address.

Reports from the Half-Way-Tree Police indicate that on Saturday, April 18, staff securely locked a food truck located on the compound of a parking lot in the area. At approximately 6:00 a.m., on Sunday, April 19, a maintenance worker discovered that the food truck had been broken into. The perpetrator(s) reportedly stole kitchen utensils and an assortment of groceries valued at approximately JMD $400,000. Further checks revealed that a Volkswagen Savero motor vehicle parked on the premises had also been broken into. The left window was smashed, and the vehicle’s battery was stolen.

A report was made to the police, who immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Following further inquiries, Netfa was apprehended and subsequently charged after being interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

A court date is currently being finalised for him.
