St Andrew South Police Stage Major Operations Across Division
ST ANDREW SOUTH POLICE STAGE MAJOR OPERATIONS ACROSS DIVISION
Operatives from the St Andrew South Division conducted a series of major operational activities across sections of the division early Friday morning, as police intensified efforts to disrupt criminal activity, apprehend persons of interest and improve public safety.
The operations were led by Commanding Officer for the St Andrew South Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Damion Manderson, supported by Superintendent Michael Campbell, Officer in Charge of the Public Safety Division, and Superintendent Eucal Francis, Operations Officer.
The team included personnel from the St Andrew South Division, Specialized Operations, the Canine Division, Area Fugitive Apprehension Team (AFAT), the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) and members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).
The operation, which ran from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., concentrated on White Lane, Tripe Lane and sections of Penwood Road and Henley Road. Police were seeking several targeted individuals as part of ongoing investigations, while also searching for illegal firearms, ammunition and dangerous drugs.
A range of operational activities were conducted, including Cordon and Search operations, Targeted Raids, Snap Raids, Vehicle Checkpoints and joint patrols.
Several targeted raids were conducted at locations within the division, during which multiple premises and dwellings were searched. Police also conducted snap raids as part of the operation. No illegal firearms, ammunition or dangerous drugs were recovered during those searches, and none of the targeted individuals was located.
Fourteen people were taken to the Hunts Bay Police Station, where they were interviewed and processed by investigators from the St Andrew South Division before being released. Their identities are being withheld as they have not been charged with an offence.
Members of the community expressed open appreciation for the operation and effective presence of the police. They also took time out to engage in positive conversations and interactions. They lauded the police for the professional manner in which the operation was executed.
SSP Manderson said the operation formed part of the Division’s continuing strategy to strengthen its presence in targeted communities, disrupt criminal activity and maintain public order.
